The CBD & Hemp Era!

Updated: Aug 8, 2023

We're celebrating National CBD Day today, August 8th, and what a better way to celebrate than with some CBD products.

But, wait... what is CBD anyways?

Though we are living in the CBD and Hemp era, there are still many people who don't know a thing about any of it.

Firstly, what is CBD?

Cannabidiol, abbreviated as CBD, is a type of Cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are chemicals found in Cannabis; also known as the Marijuana plant.

Marijuana became popular in the US during the late 19th century (1800-1900) as a medicinal substance. However going into the 1900's, the weed became popular as a recreational drug. In the United States, Marijuana is currently only legal both medically and recreationally in less than 20 states.

This plant is known by several names, but the most common being Marijuana, Maryjane, Weed, Kush, and Pot. In regards to the name Kush, it is referring to the Marijuana plant that is derived from the Middle East. The plant is given its name by the region it is grown in and each will differ in some way, but they are all the same exact plant... Marijuana. It's like saying we are all humans, but some are Hispanic and others are French.

There are 2 types of Marijuana; Indica and Sativa. Externally, their leaves are slightly different. As seen in the image, Sativa has light green leaves that are long and lean. The Indica has dark leaves that are short and wide. Image found on The Difference Between Indica and Sativa — CannaVine (trycannavine.com). Besides their physical appearance, they also differ in effects.

The Indica plant affects the body while the Sativa plant affects the mind.

Both of these Marijuana plants contain a compound called Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC. THC is what creates the psychoactive effects we usually associates with Marijuana; that high feeling.

When the THC is reduced to 0.3%, meaning there is virtually no THC left, the plant is now called Hemp. Hemp is a nontoxic form of Marijuana that is used in a multitude of ways such as textiles, paper, cleansers, and consumable goods. Hemp products can be found in local stores and even at pet supply stores. Hemp is a legal product that is easily accessible to anyone because it is basically plant matter.

Although Hemp is easier to find in local stores, CBD products are more exclusive. CBD is a specific extract from Hemp. There is more work involved being that the CBD must first be extracted from the Hemp plant before any product is made. One would think that Hemp products should already contain CBD in it, but the fact is that CBD gets diluted if it's not extracted. Just like when you steam vegetables; most of the nutrients get lost in the steaming process.

Using CBD has become very popular because of its wide range of natural benefits. It can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It also helps with inflammation, body pains, and helps induce relaxation. CBD can also help certain skin conditions and eating disorders.

CBD products come in several forms such as oral drops, gummies, topical creams, body wash, oils, and such. The body absorbs the CBD's healing properties in a nontoxic, beneficial way. Many people have turned to CBD, natures healer, to replace prescribed medications. Pet owners are also using CBD to help their senior pets with body and joint pains without having to use medication that can negatively affect their liver.

So now that you know what CBD is and why it is so beneficial, don't you want to try CBD for yourself? Now is your chance! Celebrate National CBD Day with the only CBD products I use and trust.
