Skin Care OD

When you hear the words skin care, what immediately comes to your mind? These 2 words can mean something different to everyone. So how does it make you feel, pray tell? I'd love to know.

The word #obsessed is definitely a catchphrase now, so I hope you don't mind me saying that I am very obsessed (in a healthy way) with the subject of skin care. With a lifelong struggle to obtain beautiful healthy skin, how can I not be a fanatic?

It is an art, a science, a technique, a skill, a lifestyle, and an action of selflove that is often confused with vanity. To be vain is to be far too concerned with your looks; obsessed in an unhealthy way. Examples being one is too concerned with how other view them, or they can't have 1 hair out of place, or they're injecting Botox on their forehead at 21 when there are no wrinkles to be seen. That is vanity, but what I'm interested in is how to have naturally radiant and fresh looking skin at any age.

My gaud! In the world of skin care, there is so much to learn which is what makes it so infinite and intriguing. For starters, skin care isn't just about applying cream on your face. It's so much more.

Let's list a few branches of skin care:

- skincare products
- ingredients
- face yoga
- facial massages
- face tapping
- facial tools
- facials and peels
- micro needling
- naturopathic practices
- healthy skin diet and supplements
- medication
- reflexology

Each of these branches have a very long list of their own. Just think about it for a second. How many skincare products exist? Thousands! How many facial tools can you begin to list? Gua Sha, jade roller, red light therapy mask, sonic facial brush, and the list goes on and on. It's truly an endless world. Skin care is not just about looking good, it's about feeling good.

Your skin is kind of your health police. When something is wrong internally, your skin will let you know. By internally, I mean physically and mentally. When your gut is not well or your stress level is high, you will likely experience a breakout.

Love your skin, kiddos! Our skin is our friend, so don't ignore it or treat it harshly. We just have to keep a good relationship with it and understand what it's trying to tell us. Do you have a skin care journey you'd like to share? Do so in the comments.

XoXo!

Ody :)
