Meant to be!

Writing, journaling, logging important events! These are all activities I’ve been doing since I was 10.

Have you ever heard of the words Graphophobia or Scriptophobia? It is the fear of writing. There are all sorts of things that can drive individuals mad when trying to type up a document. You know! There’s the grammar, the creative writing, the subject, even the act of typing. All of these details are needed to create something worth reading. Think of it as baking! If typing isn’t your thing, computers can now type for you with just the sound of your voice. But that won't help with the subject or the formatting. Is there even a rough draft? All of this can frighten many people, but it thoroughly excites me.

I wasn't always like that though. I enjoyed writing in my journal as a child and teenager, but I didn't enjoy writing school reports. I dreaded writing an essay or a report during my middle school years. Who didn't?! I didn’t know how to type nor organize my thoughts. Typing an essay of just 5 paragraphs could have taken me hours (no joke). Afterward, I would go express my hatred of computers and essays in my journal. Paper and pen was my preferred method then and still is today.

It wasn’t until my first year in high school that I learned how to type. It was mandatory for all freshman and my ticket to freedom. Oh my goodness! I cannot even express how thankful I was to have taken that class. I can go on and on about how much I have enjoyed typing ever since.

Then in my sophomore year, in preparation for the state exam (FCAT), my class had to take intense writing courses. Professors taught us how to organize our thoughts, capture the reader's attention, create a draft, and much more. It was life-changing! I absorbed it all like a sponge. By the time FCAT came around, my total points surpassed that of the passing score for the written portion of the exam. From then on, I was always in accelerated English honor courses. My fear of writing and typing was in the past. Now, I simply yearn for more.

So do I still journal via pen and paper? Of course! I love writing down my thoughts, feelings, and goals. Sometimes, writing helps me better understand myself. A couple of blank journals and notebooks are on my bookshelf awaiting their very first entry. It’s always so exciting to start using a new journal, right?! If I don’t have a pen and paper, I’ll type. I cannot live without one or the other. Haha! I sound so dramatic right now.

So as the title of this post states, I was just meant to be a writer. If I could go back in time, I would have majored in English or Journalism. But as times changed, so did the business of writing. I slowly discovered this vast community of blogging at the same time I started researching Cruelty-Free Cosmetics. Most of the information I acquired was from blogs. I was puzzled at first because I wasn’t aware that these were blogs. The websites were so beautiful and informative. Blogs were not as appealing back when I was in high school as they are now. Nowadays, we have websites that help construct a blog in a few easy steps (such as Wix).

Thanks to the cyber advancements within the past decade, I can be here today; in my very own blog. I am so excited to have you here joining along in this journey. Stick around and let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

I look forward to hearing from you!
